¡Hola, esta soy yo!

My Story

I started teaching in 2015 as a volunteer in a Primary School in Scotland while I worked on a professional certification to teach Spanish as a foreign language (ELE in Spanish). In 2016 I began teaching first year undergraduate students of Spanish in the University of Stirling, and also had the pleasure of teaching Spanish with a social enterprise that worked with older adults with dementia. In 2018 I moved to Barcelona to keep bettering myself and learn about teaching students of younger ages, completing a Master's degree. And more recently, in 2022 I moved back to my hometown, Murcia. Let me know if you come for a visit!

I specialise in online teaching since 2019 and have since taught students of all ages (from 4 onwards!), origins (Europe, Asia & North America), and backgrounds (different school systems or professions - from engineers to journalists to former soldiers to retirees). Everyone has a story to tell and I can't wait to hear yours, too.

My classes

Communicative, flexible, personalized and... fun!

Learning a language is much more than learning lines or words, so in class I like to get to know the person on the other side of the screen and prepare sessions adapted to your tastes and needs. My priority is that you enjoy your Spanish learning journey and, why not, that you have some fun in the meantime (and have fun with you, I confess). This is an exciting journey, sometimes confusing and frustrating, but always magical. That magic or chemistry is what we will be looking for in class.

My Qualifications

I have an undergraduate degree in Modern Languages and International Politics by the University of Stirling (UK) and an MSc in Translation Studies. I also hold a Certificate of Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language by the University of La Rioja (Spain) and a Master’s degree in Teaching students of Secondary and Upper Level Education by the University of Barcelona (Spain).

Beyond my teaching persona

I love video games, especially MMORPGs and all things multiplayer—I’ve pulled all-nighters just to finish a boss or level. Yes, I can get intense, but I'm never toxic online! Gaming and reading (I’m a big fantasy fan) got me through the toughest times at school and the most stressful exams in university. They also helped me stay connected with friends after moving countries at 18.

I also love hiking in nature (unless it’s too hot—then I prefer to just manatee in the sea), playing board games (the geekier, the better), and I took up sewing a couple of years ago.

I also enjoy drawing and singing, though I’m not great at either!

Fun facts about me

I used to teach Argentine tango.

I am becoming better at not killing all the plants in my balcony.

Once, in the only terror escape room I’ve ever done, I entered a strange, peaceful state of mind to keep myself from freezing up. My friends later said it felt like I became a completely different person!

I discovered I am afraid of heights at the top of the Wayna Picchu mountain in Machu Picchu, Peru. I refused to take a picture at the top and for a few minutes I tried to convince my partner that I would be needing a helicopter coming for me, stat!
